Appliance Removal and Disposal
We try to reduce, re-use, and recycle everything we can.
Many of our customers want help removing and disposing of large household appliances and we are always glad that people don’t risk injury by moving such things on their own; aside from being experienced, fit and strong, we also bring tools and equipment to assist us and make sure it is as safe as possible for everyone. We frequently remove and dispose of stoves, refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, furnaces, hot water heaters, air conditioners, and a surprising number of pool tables and hot tubs. We have never had a serious injury on a job and we work hard to keep it that way!
A special note about old refrigerators and freezers
Keeping an unused or under used 'fridge or freezer can be problematic for a couple reasons. First of all efficiency: It is estimated that replacing a refrigerator made in the '80's will save you $100 a year in electricity (if it was made in the '70's you can save $200 a year). But also, as my mom always told me old refrigerators and freezers are dangerous. If a young child or animal gets in it they may not be able to open it: Really old ones have latches but even newer ones (especially horizontal "deep freeze" freezers) may have doors that are heavy and magnetically vacuum sealed.
Aside from the bulk, weight and awkwardness of these appliances they may also contain ozone-depleting CFC's used as refrigerants and thus require professional disposal.
Whatever the reason, call Columbus Junk King and rest assured that it will be handled appropriately. We will donate it, recycle it if possible and make sure that it's removal and disposal are environmentally sound.
